First meeting

We will be having our first meeting Wed. October 5 at 12:15 in Room 118.

We will be discussing upcoming speakers, events, and activities and will welcome the new 1Ls.

Finding Common Ground to Protect our Planet.

On Friday, September 23, 2011 at the University of Southern Maine's Hannaford Hall, the Natural Resources Council of Maine will hold its annual meeting, "Finding Common Ground to Protect our Planet."

We are honored that Senator George J. Mitchell will give this year's keynote address.

Dessert reception - 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Program - 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. includes the keynote address by Senator Mitchell followed by presentation of the 2011 NRCM Environmental Awards and election of board members.

"The Sargasso Sea Alliance: a Bold Initiative in High Seas Marine Protection"

Environmental Law Society Speaker
Wednesday, April 13 at 12:10 in the middle classroom.

David Shaw, Chair, Sargasso Sea Alliance Managing Partner, Black Point GroupFounder, IDEXX Laboratories Inc.

Mr. Shaw will be discussing his work with the Sargasso Sea Alliance. The Sargasso Sea, located near Bermuda, is a unique ecosystem due to surrounding ocean currents.  Mr. Shaw started the Sargasso Sea Alliance with the hope of establishing a marine protected area in the Sargasso Sea.

Speaker about the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative

David Littell, former Commissioner of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and current chairman on the the Public Utilities Commission, will be coming to speak on Friday, April 1st at 12:15 in the middle classroom.  Mr. Littell will be discussing the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.  Pizza will be served.
